Government of India has launched Accelerating Growth of New India’s Innovations (AGNIi) – a flagship program under the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and Co-Chaired by the Cabinet Secretariat to the Government of India. It is an initiative that aims to support the ongoing efforts for boosting the innovation ecosystem in the country. AGNIi does this by connecting innovators across industry, individuals and the grassroots to the market and help in commercializing their innovative solutions. Invest India, India’s National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has been tasked with spearheading this innovation initiative.

Set up in 2004, it is one of the earliest incubators in academia with a potential to create economic growth, strategic value and social relevance.Over a period of time SINE has supported 141+ startups, 380+ innovators and 3600+ employment has been generated by SINE companies.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras is one among the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education, basic and applied research. In 1956, the German Government offered technical assistance for establishing an institute of higher education in engineering in India. The first Indo-German agreement in Bonn, West Germany for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras was signed in 1959.
The Institute was formally inaugurated in 1959 by Prof.Humayun Kabir, Union Minister for Scientific Research and Cultural Affairs. IIT Madras is a residential institute with nearly 550 faculty, 8000 students and 1250 administrative & supporting staff and is a self-contained campus located in a beautiful wooded land of about 250 hectares.
